I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all authors, readers, and editorial board members for their invaluable contributions, which made 2024 another outstanding year for Journal of Yeungnam Medical Science (JYMS). Our progress this year would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment of our reviewers, who generously dedicated their time and expertise to rigorously review manuscripts and provide insightful feedback to support our authors. Their dedication remains a cornerstone of our editorial process, and we are deeply thankful to everyone who contributed to our achievements throughout the year.
In 2024, the journal published a total of 44 articles, with Korean authors contributing 35 of these articles (79.5%), while nine (20.5%) were authored by researchers from four different countries (Fig. 1). A comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the total citations is shown in Fig. 2 and Supplementary Table 1. Our global reach has significantly expanded, with readership extending to 173 countries in 2024, as shown in the access statistics (Fig. 3). Moreover, the total number of citations continues to increase steadily. In 2024, JYMS was cited 573 times in the Crossref Metadata, 449 times in Scopus, and 460 times in the Web of Science Core Collection.
Regarding impact metrics, the journal achieved an impact factor of 1.0 in the Web of Science for 2023, based on 49 citations from 50 documents published between 2021 and 2022. Additionally, the CiteScore provided by Scopus was 0.8 for 2023, based on 103 citations of 132 documents from 2020 to 2023, calculated as of May 5, 2024. Notably, our manuscript acceptance rate has decreased from 55.1% in 2020 to 19.0% in 2024 (calculated as of December 30, 2024), demonstrating our commitment to upholding rigorous editorial standards and continuously improving the quality of published research.
We are also delighted to announce that JYMS received publication funding from a Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies Grant in 2024. This support strengthens our commitment to advancing the journal’s mission.
Starting in 2025, JYMS will transition publication frequency from its current quarterly to a single annual publication (Continuous Article Publishing [CAP] model). Under this model, accepted articles will be published and given page numbers immediately, reducing the publication timeline by an estimated 1 to 3 months. This change aims to facilitate the prompt dissemination of valuable scholarly work. We kindly request your continued support and collaboration as we transition JYMS to a CAP model.
JYMS remains dedicated to its vision of becoming a leading journal in general medicine. To achieve this goal, the editorial board has focused on enhancing the quality of our publications. Consistent with these efforts, we plan to invite active and renowned researchers to join our distinguished pool of reviewers in 2025.
Below, we proudly acknowledge the names and affiliations of our esteemed reviewers for 2024. The editorial board expresses its deepest appreciation for their invaluable contributions throughout the year. We look forward to their continued support and collaboration as we advance to 2025.
